Deputies and other public safety staff will hold a live training exercise on the Bells High School campus this Saturday, Oct. 10, beginning at 10 a.m., the Grayson County Sheriff's Office told KTEN.

The sheriff's office is coordinating the drill. According to the report, the training ties to a Texas law meant to make sure public safety workers are prepared to respond to a real emergency at a school.

Stay clear of the campus

A sheriff's office spokesperson asked residents to keep away from the high school while the exercise is under way so responders can train without interference.

The sheriff's office has not said publicly how long the exercise will last, which agencies besides the sheriff's office will take part, or whether any nearby streets will be closed.

The exercise is a scheduled training drill.
