Late Strike Decides High-Scoring Clash
CeeDee Lamb’s 12-yard receiving touchdown with the game on the line proved decisive as the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Houston Texans 34-30 on Sunday. The visit to Reliant Stadium before a crowd of 71,227 featured a back-and-forth battle that saw the teams trade leads through the final minutes. The victory improved the Cowboys to 2-2, while the host Texans fell to 0-4 on the season.
Texans Take Early Lead
The game opened with Houston establishing a quick advantage. Nico Collins caught a seven-yard pass from C.J. Stroud for a touchdown, giving the Texans a 7-0 lead.
Dallas responded with a 39-yard field goal by Brandon Aubrey, but Houston extended its lead to 10-3 on a 51-yard kick by Ka'imi Fairbairn. The second quarter was a kicking contest, with both teams connecting on field goals. Aubrey hit a 50-yarder, while Fairbairn responded with kicks of 39 and 54 yards.
The half ended with Houston leading 16-6.
Williams Powers Third-Quarter Surge
The third quarter saw the Cowboys cut into the deficit through the ground game. Javonte Williams rushed for an eight-yard touchdown, bringing Dallas within one point at 13-16. Houston immediately reasserted itself as Collins caught a 22-yard pass from Stroud for a touchdown, pushing the lead back to 23-13.
