Rantanen in on all four goals
Mikko Rantanen scored once and assisted on the other three Dallas goals as the Stars blanked the Buffalo Sabres 4-0 Thursday night at KeyBank Center.
Jake Oettinger stopped all 26 shots he faced for the shutout. Buffalo outshot Dallas 26-18, but Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen allowed four goals on 18 shots at the other end.
How the goals came
Jason Robertson opened the scoring in the first period with a snap shot, his second goal of the season, set up by Rantanen and Wyatt Johnston.
Dallas broke the game open with three goals in a span of about six minutes in the second period. Sam Steel scored his first of the season at 9:36, assisted by Thomas Harley and Rantanen. Rantanen followed at 13:57 with a backhander off assists from Nils Lundkvist and Johnston. Roope Hintz finished it on the power play at 15:34, with Johnston and Rantanen assisting.
