Four-touchdown connection

Patrick Overmyer caught four touchdown passes as the Houston Cougars beat the Kansas State Wildcats 35-16 on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Overmyer finished with eight catches for 83 yards, and all four of his scores came on throws from Conner Weigman.

Weigman completed 19 of 30 passes for 242 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.

Houston establishes the lead

Houston went up 7-0 in the first quarter on Weigman's 1-yard touchdown pass to Overmyer, with Jonathan Dimas adding the extra point. Kansas State answered with Luis Rodriguez's 29-yard field goal, and the Cougars led 7-3 after one quarter.

Houston scored twice in the second quarter. Overmyer caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Weigman, and Makhi Hughes ran 13 yards for another score. Dimas made both kicks, and Houston took a 21-3 lead into halftime.

Hughes ran 14 times for 78 yards and the Cougars' only rushing touchdown. Re'Shaun Sanford II led Houston on the ground with 20 carries for 90 yards.

Third-quarter exchange

Weigman hit Overmyer from 8 yards out in the third quarter, and Dimas' kick made it 28-3. Kansas State responded with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Avery Johnson to Garrett Oakley, but the two-point pass failed, leaving the score 28-9.

Houston answered before the quarter ended. Weigman found Overmyer for a 2-yard touchdown, and Dimas converted again for a 35-9 lead.

Johnson completed 16 of 30 passes for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Oakley had three catches for 49 yards and a touchdown. Rodney Fields Jr. carried 14 times for 46 yards.

Final margin and records

Kansas State scored the only points of the fourth quarter on Johnson's 6-yard touchdown pass to Jaron Tibbs, with Rodriguez adding the extra point. By quarter, Houston outscored Kansas State 7-3 in the first, 14-0 in the second and 14-6 in the third, while the Wildcats won the fourth 7-0.

The game drew 51,569 fans. Houston improved to 5-1, and Kansas State fell to 3-2.
