The game was defined by offensive explosions and defensive struggles from both sides. Houston held a commanding 23-13 lead heading into the fourth quarter, fueled by strong performances from C.J. Stroud and Nico Collins. However, Dallas mounted a comeback with three consecutive touchdowns in the final period to seize control of the matchup.
Scoring Breakdown and Key Performances
Houston opened the scoring early in the first quarter when Stroud found Collins for a 7-yard touchdown, followed by two field goals from Ka’imi Fairbairn. Dallas responded with field goals from Brandon Aubrey before halftime, but Fairbairn added two more kicks to extend Houston’s lead to 16-6 at the break.
The third quarter saw Javonte Williams emerge as a critical factor for Dallas, rushing for two touchdowns, including an 8-yard run that cut the deficit to 23-13. Stroud and Collins continued their connection with another touchdown pass late in the period, making it 23-16.
Dallas took over in the fourth quarter. Williams rushed for a 2-yard touchdown to bring the Cowboys within four points at 23-20. Woody Marks then scored on a 6-yard run to give Houston a brief 30-27 lead. But Prescott orchestrated the game-winning drive, finding Lamb for the final touchdown with Aubrey’s extra point making it 34-30.
