Jade Caballero, a recent Sherman High School graduate, will begin a paid position at a local law firm this fall while attending Austin College on scholarship. She is the first student from her school to transition from a sponsored internship class into an official role at the firm.

During her senior year, Caballero spent two days each week at the office through a criminal law course taught by Michele Watson. The program allows students to gain hands-on experience with local professionals. Caballero said a hectic day at the firm confirmed her interest in the career path.

Linzie Roesler, who mentored Caballero and is now her supervisor, praised the young woman’s maturity and work ethic. Roesler noted that Caballero’s drive reminded her of her own early career, though she was more mature at that age. Watson described the opportunity as rare for someone so young, highlighting Caballero’s self-discipline.

Caballero credited her parents’ demanding work schedules for inspiring her ambition. She plans to rely on advice from her mentors to maintain integrity and resilience as she enters the legal field.
