The Sherman Chamber of Commerce has selected Emilie Harris to serve as its new president and CEO. The organization announced the appointment on Tuesday, marking a permanent leadership change for the group.
Harris brings several years of experience to the role, having joined the chamber in 2022. She has held the position of interim president and CEO since January 2026, a tenure that has now been formalized. Her appointment follows a period of temporary leadership within the organization.
In a statement regarding the transition, Harris expressed her commitment to the organization and the local area. She noted that the chamber has been her professional home for the last four years. Harris stated she looks forward to collaborating with the board, staff, volunteers, and community leaders to maintain a robust business environment in the region.
Asa Jessee, the chairman of the Sherman board, supported the decision to name Harris to the top post. He described the choice as a confident move for the future of the organization. Jessee indicated that under Harris's guidance, the chamber will focus on creating strong partnerships and aiding local enterprises.
He added that these efforts are intended to boost the economic health of the surrounding area.
