Members of the Sherman Evening Lions Club are preparing for their eighth annual chili cook-off, scheduled to take place this Saturday at 903 Brewers in Sherman.
Club members Roger Peckenpaugh and Steve Gaconnier discussed the upcoming event on the KXII program Talk of the Town. Registration for participants opens at 8 a.m. on Sept. 26. The competition is open to the general public, and organizers plan to announce multiple winners during the gathering.
Denison Mayor Robert Crawley and Sherman Mayor Shawn Teamann have been confirmed as judges for the event. Their attendance was highlighted by the club members during their appearance on the local broadcast.
Funds raised from the cook-off will support Lions charities operating in the Denison-Sherman region. Beneficiaries include DAWG, Family Promise of Grayson County, Texoma Family Shelter, and the Boys and Girls Club.
