The Texas Department of Transportation has scheduled a full closure of US-82 in Sherman to facilitate bridge maintenance. The shutdown affects both the main lanes and the frontage roads for eastbound and westbound traffic. The closure is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Monday and remain in effect until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7.

Crews will use this window to install new deck paving on the US-75 bridge that spans over US-82. The work requires the complete cessation of traffic on the affected roadway segments to ensure safety and allow for proper construction execution.

Detour routes have been established for motorists who need to travel along this corridor. Eastbound drivers will be diverted at Exit 642B, which leads to US-75. These vehicles will re-enter US-82 at a point near Loy Lake Road. Westbound traffic will follow a similar path, exiting at the same location and rejoining the highway near Travis Street.

The Texas Department of Transportation is advising drivers to exercise caution while navigating the area. Motorists are urged to remain alert for barricades and road signs that mark the detour paths and the construction zone. Drivers should plan for potential delays and follow the designated alternate routes.

No information is yet available regarding the expected duration of the paving work beyond the stated closure window or any long-term impacts on the highway schedule. Further details on the scope of the bridge project were not provided in the initial announcement.
