A Texas Christian University football player was hospitalized for three days after suffering a brain bleed due to an alleged attack by a teammate. The incident took place on August 13 in the locker room when Jacob Fields reportedly struck wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma in the forehead and kicked him in the head.

Ezukanma sustained a brain bleed, a concussion, and a strained AC joint as a result of the altercation.

Fields has been removed from the team and turned himself in to authorities on Sunday. An arrest affidavit revealed that Ezukanma believed the incident was fueled by competition during practice, as Fields felt he was underperforming.

After the incident, Ezukanma shared text messages in which Fields expressed remorse, stating, "I made an emotional decision cause of how I felt played the last few practices" and offered to pay for Ezukanma's hospital expenses.

Ezukanma's family reported that he is recovering and looks forward to returning to the field once he receives medical clearance. His sister, Emelie Ezukanma, highlighted the need for accountability in this matter. Meanwhile, TCU is managing the situation while also concentrating on the team’s performance, as they recently faced a loss in their first game of the season.

Head coach Sonny Dykes expressed pride in how the players are handling the distractions. A representative for Fields mentioned that he has legal representation and will allow the legal process to proceed, indicating that there will be an opportunity to present the facts regarding the incident.
