In a recent volleyball match against TCU, Texas Longhorns' outside hitter Abby Vander Wal left the game after sustaining a knee injury. The incident took place during the opening set when Vander Wal fell while scrambling on the left side of the court and remained down, visibly in pain as she clutched her knee.
Assisted by training staff, Vander Wal was helped off the court without being able to put weight on her leg. She did not re-enter the match, which the Longhorns won by sweeping TCU. Prior to her injury, Vander Wal had made two kills and her topspin serve contributed to two scoring runs for the team.
Details on the severity of her injury are still pending, and the situation is developing.
