Baylor defensive lineman Devonte Tezino is out for the rest of the season after hurting his leg during Saturday’s game against Prairie View A&M. Head coach Dave Aranda confirmed the injury after the game, according to a report from SicEm365.
The injury occurred early in the game, on Baylor’s second offensive snap, when a Prairie View A&M lineman used a cut block. Tezino summoned medical staff and was eventually taken from the field by cart. Safety Jacob Redding also has a season-ending injury, leaving Baylor without two starters despite having depth on the defensive line.
Tezino, a fifth-year senior from Killeen, had recorded two sacks and caused a pass to be tipped into an interception against Auburn. Aranda said Tezino was playing the strongest football of his career before the injury. Last fall, Tezino appeared in all 12 games and started seven despite dealing with injuries.
He ended that season with 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup. Across 29 games for Baylor, he has 56 tackles.
