The Dallas Cowboys expect defensive players Jonathan Bullard and Jalen Thompson to miss several games. Bullard is projected to be sidelined three to five weeks with a calf injury, while Thompson is expected to miss at least four weeks because of a hamstring problem.
Both injuries occurred in Dallas’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Rio. Cornerback Shavon Revel also sustained knee and ankle issues, but Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday that Revel was making progress and might return to practice this week. The Cowboys have not confirmed whether he will play against Houston in Week 4.
Bullard had been absent for most of training camp after another injury. Thompson could be placed on injured reserve with a designation to return, joining safety P.J. Locke.
Dallas also does not expect Cobie Durant to travel to South Texas while recovering from a hamstring injury. Malik Hooker may need more time after fracturing his forearm in the season opener, while DeMarvion Overshown could begin practicing again after missing two games with a hamstring injury.
The Cowboys have worked out several players, including former safety Juanyeh Thomas, as first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker manages a depleted safety group before Dallas visits the Texans, who remain winless.
