North Texas has officially named Tayven Jackson as their starting quarterback for the upcoming season. The team is set to face No. 6 ranked Indiana University on September 5 at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.

Jackson, originally from Greenwood, Indiana, previously played for Indiana University for two seasons before transferring to the University of Central Florida (UCF) for the 2025 season. During his time at UCF, he achieved impressive statistics, recording 2,151 passing yards, 10 touchdown passes, and 8 interceptions.

Jackson's ties to IU run deep; he is the younger sibling of Trayce Jackson-Davis, a former player for the IU basketball team. Trayce has expressed his intention to attend the game to cheer on his brother. This matchup is significant for IU, marking their first game since their national championship victory in January.
