Caden Powell, a native of Waco and former player for Baylor, is set to return to the basketball team for the 2026-27 season following a recent court injunction in Ohio. Powell, who has also played for Wyoming and Rice, joined Baylor last season and transitioned from a backup center to a starter due to team injuries.

The Baylor squad is undergoing significant changes, with head coach Scott Drew aiming to create a deeper roster for the upcoming season. Powell's return is seen as a valuable addition, enhancing the team's depth chart as they prepare for competition.

While Powell may not start immediately, he is expected to contribute significantly off the bench, leveraging his defensive skills and ability to be a lob threat. The projected depth chart includes starters such as Kayden Mingo at point guard and Juslin Bodo Bodo at center, with Powell positioned in the rotation as a senior center.

His experience will be crucial for a relatively young team, where only Evan Chatman and Juslin Bodo Bodo were seniors prior to his return. Powell's familiarity with the Big 12 will aid in building team chemistry and leadership as the Bears gear up for the season.
