Kevin Jennings, the quarterback for the SMU Mustangs, is reportedly recovering well from a finger injury and is expected to play in the season opener against the Florida State Seminoles. The injury occurred when he jammed his finger in a locker room door earlier this month during fall camp.
Head coach Rhett Lashlee expressed optimism regarding Jennings' recovery, stating that the redshirt senior has started throwing again and is experiencing no pain. Lashlee mentioned that Jennings will have a complete two weeks to prepare for the game, with the goal of being fully ready by kickoff.
The injury was not deemed serious, and Jennings' return is considered crucial for SMU's performance this season. Last year, he recorded impressive stats with 3,641 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and a completion rate of 66.1%. However, he also led the ACC with 13 interceptions, indicating an area for improvement as he gears up for the new season.
