A temporary restraining order issued by a Dallas court has enabled 18 college football players, including SMU's Ahmaad Moses, to compete for a fifth year of eligibility in the 2026 season. This decision comes just before the college football season begins and follows the Wisne v. NCAA ruling from July 31, which allowed athletes who graduated high school in 2022 to extend their eligibility.
The NCAA's appeal of that ruling has been blocked by this new injunction.
Ahmaad Moses, recognized as a First Team All-ACC selection in 2025, has participated in 54 games and made 19 starts during his time with the Mustangs. He played a crucial role in the team’s achievements, including a conference title in 2023 and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. Last season, he led the Mustangs with 104 tackles and five interceptions.
Moses had a standout game against Miami (FL), where he recorded 15 tackles and two interceptions. After declaring for the NFL Draft following the 2025 season, he encountered difficulties due to a herniated disk that required spinal fusion surgery. This injury has allowed him to qualify for a return under the ACC's new eligibility rules.
He has been training with the team and is expected to participate in their season opener against Florida State on September 7, barring any NCAA appeal.
