TCU has finalized its 2028 non-conference football schedule by adding a game against Northwestern State. The matchup is scheduled for Saturday, September 2, 2028, at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. According to a contract obtained via public records, TCU will provide a $600,000 guarantee to the Demons for participating in the contest.
This will be the second football meeting between the two programs. Their only previous encounter took place in 2001, when Northwestern State defeated TCU 27-24 in overtime. The Demons, based in Natchitoches, Louisiana, compete in the Southland Conference within the Football Championship Subdivision. Head coach Blaine McCorkle currently leads the team, which has started the season with losses to Louisiana Christian and Louisiana Tech.
The addition of this game completes TCU's non-conference slate for 2028. The Horned Frogs will open the season at home against Louisiana on August 26 and visit Duke on September 9. The Big 12 Conference has not yet announced specific conference opponents for that year, though TCU is expected to play five home games and four road games.
Northwestern State is also set to host Central Arkansas on September 16, 2028.
