As the regular season nears, the Houston Texans' opportunities to strengthen their wide receiver lineup are diminishing. The team has made significant roster additions, including defensive players Jadeveon Clowney and Mario Edwards, but has not pursued major changes to the wide receiver position, opting instead to rely on younger talent already on the team.
Recent free agency activity has seen top wide receivers like Deebo Samuel, Stefon Diggs, and Keenan Allen sign elsewhere, leaving Houston with fewer viable options. Although Tyreek Hill remains a free agent, concerns about his recovery from a torn ACL injury make his signing unlikely.
Other available receivers, such as Curtis Samuel, Brandin Cooks, Tyler Lockett, and DeAndre Hopkins, may not significantly enhance the Texans' current roster.
The Texans may continue with their existing wide receiver lineup, featuring players like Nico Collins as a potential WR1 and Jayden Higgins as a possible WR2. Jaylin Noel and Xavier Hutchinson are expected to contribute, along with a healthy Tank Dell.
Despite the lack of a major signing, the Texans' front office seems confident in their current group, possessing over $20 million in cap space for future adjustments. However, the chances of adding a significant wide receiver before the season begins appear low.
