Quarterback DJ Lagway has made the decision to transfer to Baylor following a difficult season with the University of Florida. Lagway, once celebrated as the No. 3 ranked player in his class, began his time at Florida with high hopes as he was expected to take over for Graham Mertz.

After Mertz's injury during the sixth game, Lagway stepped up as the starting quarterback, guiding the Gators to a strong finish with five wins in their last six games, including victories over ranked opponents.

However, Lagway's second season was fraught with obstacles, including injuries and a notable loss to South Florida, which marked Florida's first defeat against the Bulls. A particularly challenging game against LSU saw Lagway throw five interceptions, contributing to the Gators' disappointing 4-8 record, which ultimately led to the dismissal of head coach Billy Napier.

In search of a fresh start, Lagway entered the Transfer Portal and subsequently signed with Baylor, where he will be under the guidance of head coach Dave Aranda. Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow remarked on Lagway's transition, suggesting that a new environment could help him thrive.

Lagway's debut with the Bears is set for a match against Auburn, a significant game for both him and Coach Aranda as they look to improve from last season's performance. This game will take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
