The Houston Texans have added wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to their practice squad, according to a report by The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov on August 31. Tinsley, who stands at 6 feet 1 inch, previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, where he made eight catches for 116 yards and scored two touchdowns last season.
His move comes as the Bengals have a strong group of wide receivers, leading to interest from various teams.
Paul Dehner Jr. from The Athletic noted that Tinsley may find better chances for playing time in Houston, particularly as the Texans have been looking to strengthen their wide receiver depth this month. He joins Lewis Bond and Josh Kelly on the Texans' practice squad, as reported by Sleeper affiliate Jacob Barzilla.
Tinsley had a notable preseason in 2025, which earned him a spot on the Bengals' roster.
Tinsley, who went undrafted, has started four games across 19 regular-season appearances so far. He is recognized as a possession receiver with strong ball-handling skills, although he may not possess the speed to create separation.
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein described him as a player who is adept at making challenging catches, especially in traffic, despite some athletic limitations that may restrict him to a role that beats zone coverage from the slot.
