Baylor football has released its first depth chart for the upcoming 2026 season in preparation for their opening game against Auburn. Sherman, Texas, is located approximately 90 miles from Waco, where Baylor University is situated.
DJ Lagway will begin the season as the starting quarterback, with Nate Bennett, Edward Griffin, and Quinn Murphy as backups. Dawson Pendergrass leads the running back position, supported by Caden Knighten, Michael Turner, Ryelan Morris, and Jacorey Watson. The wide receiver lineup includes Louis Brown IV and either Dre'lon Miller or Jadon Porter, while Gavin Freeman takes the slot receiver role, backed by Jayden McGowan.
Matthew Klopfenstein is the starting tight end, with several backups including Tony Livingston and Hawkins Polley.
On the defensive side, Kyler Jordan or Jordan Mack will start at defensive end, with Devonte Tezino or Kamren Washington at defensive tackle. The linebacker positions feature Travion Barnes at MIKE, Kyland Reed at WILL, and either Ryan Davis or Garrick Ponder at JACK. In the secondary, Devon Jordan and LeVar Thornton Jr. will serve as cornerbacks.
For special teams, Rhett Armstrong is designated as the kicker and punter, while Dylan Schaub will be the long snapper. Caden Knighten, Jayden McGowan, and Ryelan Morris are set as kick returners, and Freeman, McGowan, and Miller will handle punt returns.
