A Lopsided Start
The TCU Horned Frogs opened their season with a commanding performance, defeating the visiting Oral Roberts Golden Eagles 99-43 at Schollmaier Arena. The final tally marked a significant victory for the home team, who controlled the contest from the opening tip against an opponent that struggled to find any offensive rhythm throughout the night.
First Half Control
TCU established its dominance early in the first quarter. After Oral Roberts took a brief 2-2 tie when Aubrey Hishaw made a layup assisted by Kayten Donley, the Horned Frogs went on a decisive run. Lara Somfai and Jadyn Wooten led the charge, with Somfai scoring via driving layups and free throws while Wooten contributed with jumpers and assists.
By the end of the first period, TCU had built a 27-9 lead.
The second quarter saw Oral Roberts manage to score some points, including three-pointers from Aliyah Duval and Kayten Donley. However, the Horned Frogs continued to extend their advantage through efficient scoring. Lara Somfai added more points with layups, while Jadyn Wooten connected on a long-range three-pointer.
The teams headed into halftime with TCU firmly in control, having outscored the Golden Eagles 46-19 in the first half.
Third Quarter Expansion
Oral Roberts attempted to mount a comeback in the third quarter, cutting the deficit slightly. Jessie-May Hall scored driving layups and a three-pointer, while Clara Silva added points inside. Despite these efforts, TCU’s offense remained potent.
