Jacob deGrom delivered a masterful outing for the Texas Rangers, pitching seven scoreless innings while striking out eight batters and allowing just one hit. The left-hander did not walk a single batter, completing a dominant performance that set the tone for the team’s offense. DeGrom earned the win, improving his season record to 10-9.

Behind him, Robby Ahlstrom pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, and Ben Peoples followed with one inning of work, though he allowed one run on two hits. The Rangers’ bullpen combined for two scoreless innings to secure the victory.

Oakland’s Early Lead Collapses

The Athletics struck first in the second inning when Nimmo scored on a groundout by Díaz, giving Oakland a 1-0 advantage. Freeman added another run with a single that brought Burger home, extending the lead to 2-0. The scoring continued as Seager crossed the plate on Nimmo’s single in the third, making it 3-0.

Foscue extended the margin in the fourth inning with a home run to left center, pushing the score to 4-0. The Athletics’ lead seemed secure until the fifth inning, when Texas erupted for seven runs. Duran scored on Nimmo’s sacrifice fly, Seager came home on Burger’s single, and Langford crossed the plate on Carter’s groundout.

By the end of the frame, the Rangers had taken a 7-4 lead.

Rangers Pull Away in Late Innings

Texas added an insurance run in the eighth inning when Freeman singled to left, allowing O’Hoppe to score. The final run came in the ninth inning when Cortes crossed home on Hernaiz’s sacrifice fly, making the final score 8-1.

Gage Jump took the loss for Oakland, giving up seven runs on six hits over 4.1 innings while walking three and striking out two. Chris Roycroft pitched 2.2 innings without allowing a run, and Jose Suarez gave up one run in his inning of work.
