Eovaldi and the Offense Dominate

Nathan Eovaldi delivered a sharp performance on the mound, striking out nine batters while allowing three earned runs over five innings to secure his ninth victory of the season. He was supported by a potent offensive display from the Texas Rangers, who erupted for five home runs in their 10-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers at Globe Life Field on Friday.

The Rangers took an early lead in the second inning. Díaz launched a 414-foot home run to left center, followed by a run-scoring walk from Jung that brought Osuna home. Duran added another run with a sacrifice fly to right, putting Texas ahead 3-0 before the Tigers could respond. Jung extended the lead in the fourth inning with a double that drove in Lopez, and Duran followed with a single to center to score Jung, making it 5-0.

Tigers Respond Briefly

Detroit managed to put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Keith hit a 405-foot home run to right center, cutting the deficit to 5-1. Lee then added a two-run shot to left center (383 feet), bringing McKinstry home and making the score 5-3. Smith homered to right (406 feet) in the sixth inning, narrowing the gap further to 5-4.

Rangers Pull Away in Later Innings

The Rangers broke the game open in the seventh inning. Osuna singled to left, scoring Carter. Díaz followed with a single to right, and Smith reached on an infield single to shortstop, bringing in Osuna. The rally continued as Malgeri singled to center in the eighth inning, scoring McKinstry. Carter then sealed the win with a 422-foot home run to center, pushing the final margin to 10-4.

Pitching and Records

Eovaldi (9-7) earned the win for Texas. Tyler Alexander, Peyton Gray, and Robby Ahlstrom each recorded a hold, while Gavin Collyer pitched the ninth inning. Cole Winn took the loss for Detroit, allowing one earned run in one inning. Framber Valdez started for the Tigers but was charged with five earned runs in five innings, falling to 4-6. Beau Brieske, Drew Sommers, Kenley Jansen, and Kyle Finnegan also pitched for Detroit.

The Rangers improved their record to 45-43, while the Tigers dropped to 38-50. The game drew an attendance of 33,450 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
