Mets rout Rangers 7-2 with three home runs

Mets power surge

The New York Mets dismantled the Texas Rangers 7-2 on Thursday, September 24, at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The decisive factor was the New York lineup, which connected for three home runs to drive in the bulk of their scoring. The victory improved the Mets' record to 73-85, while the host Rangers fell to 78-80. Attendance at the venue reached 30,188 fans.

Early lead and response

New York, batting in the top of the third inning, took an early 2-0 lead when Soto launched a 429-foot homer to right center, allowing Lindor to score. The Rangers responded in the bottom of the fifth. Burger singled to left to plate Nimmo, narrowing the gap to 2-1.

Moments later, Carter grounded into a fielder's choice to second, scoring Burger and tying the game at 2-2. The Rangers' offense stalled thereafter, failing to add another run for the remainder of the contest.

Late-inning explosion

The Mets regained the lead in the top of the eighth inning when Semien hit a 388-foot home run to left center. The final blow came in the top of the ninth. Baty delivered a 455-foot homer to right center that cleared the fence with three teammates on base.

Morabito, Soto, and Bichette all crossed the plate on the drive, extending the lead to 7-2 and securing the win for New York.

Pitching performance

Nolan McLean earned the win for the Mets, pitching seven innings while allowing three hits and two earned runs. He struck out five batters and issued one walk. Devin Williams recorded the save, retiring one batter in a perfect inning.

Cionel Perez pitched the final inning, allowing one hit but no earned runs. For the Rangers, Cody Bradford took the loss. He pitched four and one-third innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs.

The bullpen struggled to contain the Mets' late surge, with Jordan Montgomery and Trevor Williams each surrendering two earned runs in their brief appearances.
