Dallas erased an 11-point deficit and took a fourth-quarter lead, but Baltimore Ravens kicker Tyler Loop made a 56-yard field goal as time expired for a 34-31 victory Sunday at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã. The NFL’s first game in Rio drew an announced crowd of 72,792.
The Cowboys led 10-0 after Brandon Aubrey’s 28-yard field goal and Javonte Williams’ 2-yard touchdown run. Baltimore answered with two Derrick Henry rushing touchdowns, a Loop field goal and Lamar Jackson’s 4-yard scoring pass to Chris Moore for a 24-13 advantage late in the third quarter.
Dallas pulled within three when Dak Prescott connected with Jake Ferguson for a 19-yard touchdown, followed by a CeeDee Lamb two-point catch. KaVontae Turpin then scored on a 9-yard run to put Dallas ahead 28-24.
Jackson’s 2-yard touchdown pass to rookie tight end Matt Hibner gave Baltimore a 31-28 lead with 1:30 remaining. Aubrey tied the game with a 23-yard kick, his third, with seven seconds left. Jackson then completed a 27-yard pass to Zay Flowers and called timeout with one second remaining, setting up Loop’s winning kick.
Prescott finished 25 of 40 for 276 yards and a touchdown. Williams had 98 yards on 19 carries, while Lamb caught seven passes for 112 yards. Jackson went 15 of 20 for 186 yards and two touchdowns, and Henry ran 26 times for 89 yards and two scores.
