Drivers in the Sherman-Denison area are paying noticeably less at the pump than they were a month ago, though still far more than at this point last year.
AAA's daily price survey put the average price of regular unleaded in the Sherman-Denison metro at $3.50 on Sunday, Oct. 25. That is about 10 cents lower than a week earlier and 36 cents below the $3.86 average a month ago. A year ago the same gallon averaged $2.65, which leaves today's price roughly 86 cents higher.
The local figure is lower than the state and national averages. AAA listed regular at $3.72 across Texas on Sunday, $3.65 in the Dallas metro and $4.29 nationally.
Mid-grade averaged $3.88 in the Sherman-Denison area and premium $4.24.
Diesel stays near its high
Diesel has come down more slowly. The metro average was $5.71 a gallon Sunday, compared with $5.82 a month ago and $3.15 a year ago. AAA's records show the area's highest diesel average, $5.97, was set this year on Sept. 15. The local record for regular, $4.82, still dates to June 2022.
