Astros Offense Ignites
The Houston Astros defeated the Chicago White Sox 6-2 on Thursday, September 3, at Daikin Park. The home team capitalized on early momentum, with Jose Altuve driving the first run as he homered to left field for a shot of 353 feet. That blast scored Luis Paredes and put Houston ahead 2-0 in the top of the first inning.
The Astros continued their pressure in the third inning, where Daulton Varsho’s triple to center field scored two runners, extending the lead to 5-2. Walker added another run on a single to center, pushing the score to 6-2.
White Sox Response
Chicago managed to score two runs but could not keep pace with Houston’s production. In the second inning, the White Sox tied the game at 2-2 after a sequence of hits. First, Rogers reached on an infield single to shortstop, scoring C. Montgomery.
Immediately following, Antonacci singled to left, allowing Peters to score and moving Rogers to third. This gave Chicago a temporary breather, though they never regained the lead. The team finished with a record of 73-67.
