Early Power Surge
Jeremy Peña delivered a decisive offensive performance, launching two home runs to help the Houston Astros secure a 4-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals. The slugger’s first blast in the top of the first inning came off Michael Wacha, traveling 440 feet to left-center field and giving the visitors an early 1-0 lead.
Peña extended that advantage with a second home run in the third inning, a 370-foot shot to left field that pushed the score to 2-0.
Middle Inning Action
The Royals began their comeback attempt in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jensen doubled to left field, allowing Collins to score and cutting the deficit to 2-1. However, Houston responded immediately in the same frame.
Yordan Alvarez hit a 376-foot home run to right field, driving in Peña to reclaim a two-run lead. The Astros’ momentum held as they maintained their advantage through the middle innings.

Kansas City managed to score again in the bottom of the sixth inning when Pasquantino hit a 376-foot home run to right-center field, making the final margin 4-2. Despite the late run, the Astros’ pitching staff preserved the lead effectively. Hunter Brown earned the win for Houston, striking out ten batters while allowing one earned run over five innings.
Pitching and Final Notes
Michael Wacha took the loss for Kansas City, giving up four hits and four earned runs in six innings. Lucas Erceg and Jose Cuas pitched scoreless innings to close out the Royals’ effort. For Houston, Bennett Sousa, AJ Blubaugh, and Bryan Abreu combined to hold the Royals hitless in the later frames, with Abreu recording a save.
Josh Hader secured the final out for his 26th save of the season.
The win improved the Astros’ record to 76-75, while the Royals fell to 66-85. The game was played at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas, with an attendance of 28,635.
