Matt Murakami delivered a dominant offensive performance, hitting two home runs and driving in six runs to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 12-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday at Rate Field. The White Sox (55-49) secured the win with a high-powered batting display that overwhelmed Houston's pitching staff, while the Astros (52-55) struggled to contain the Chicago lineup throughout the contest.
Murakami opened the scoring in the first inning with a 385-foot home run to left field that also scored Michael Antonacci, giving Chicago a 2-1 lead. He added another solo shot in the eighth inning, a 398-foot blast to right center, extending the White Sox advantage.
His six runs batted in were the most of any player, highlighting his critical role in the team's offensive output.
Scoring Highlights
The White Sox built their lead early and maintained it through consistent scoring. Luis Robert Jr. contributed a 393-foot home run to left in the first inning, followed by a 394-foot home run to right center in the third. Alex Bregman also found the bases empty in the fifth with a 426-foot home run to center field.
The Astros managed to score in the third inning when Jose Altuve singled, allowing one run to score, but Chicago quickly responded. In the sixth inning, Yordan Alvarez homered to left, scoring one run, and in the seventh, Alex Bregman singled, bringing home two more runs.
