Dominant Pitching Display

Keider Montero delivered a masterful performance on the mound, pitching seven scoreless innings to lead the Detroit Tigers to an 8-0 victory over the Houston Astros. Montero (4-5) allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out three batters, setting the tone for a complete team effort. He was supported by reliever Enmanuel De Jesus, who closed out the game with two perfect innings, recording two strikeouts and issuing one walk. The Tigers' pitching staff held Houston hitless over the final two innings, with Nate Pearson and Bryan Abreu each contributing scoreless frames. Pearson (3.0 IP) struck out one, while Abreu (1.0 IP) added another strikeout without allowing a hit.

Offensive Explosion in the Fourth

Detroit’s offense erupted in the fourth inning, scoring eight runs in total across two key sequences. The scoring began in the third inning when an error by Astros catcher Diaz allowed Outman to score, making it 1-0. Carpenter then homered to right field (412 feet), bringing McGonigle home to extend the lead to 3-0.

The fourth inning proved decisive. Keith launched a home run to right field (341 feet) to make it 4-0. Shortly after, Outman hit a three-run home run to right (407 feet), driving in McKinstry and Vierling to push the score to 7-0. Dingler added an insurance run with a single to center field, scoring McGonigle for an 8-0 advantage that would hold until the final out.

Astros Struggle to Generate Offense

Houston’s offense was stifled throughout the game, managed by a Tigers pitching staff that never allowed a run. Spencer Arrighetti took the loss (7-4) after allowing eight earned runs on five hits and five walks over three innings. He was the only Astros pitcher to give up runs, while the rest of the bullpen combined for four hitless innings. Jake Meyers pitched one inning in relief, allowing no hits or walks, though he was replaced after lining out to shortstop Alvarez in the eighth inning.

Final Score and Records

The Tigers improved their record to 35-47 with the win, while the Astros fell to 40-44. The game was played at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan, with an attendance of 30,036. The Tigers’ balanced attack and dominant pitching performance ensured a clean sweep, as Houston failed to score any runs despite multiple opportunities to generate offense against Montero and the relievers.
