Major League Soccer's All-Stars will take on Liga MX's All-Stars in a match at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday. The game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
This matchup continues the tradition of pitting the two prominent North American leagues against each other, rather than hosting an exhibition within a single league. The game comes during a condensed MLS schedule, which paused from late May until mid-July for the World Cup, before resuming on July 16 with several rivalry matches.
Dean Smith, head coach of Charlotte FC, has selected the MLS roster for this event taking place at his home stadium. The 29-player team was formed through a combination of fan votes for 11 players, 12 selections made by Smith, and two picks from MLS commissioner Don Garber.
Among the notable players on the roster are high-profile signings Son Heung-min and Thomas Muller, along with Toronto FC's Richie Laryea. Additionally, three players from the Vancouver Whitecaps are included.
In the lead-up to the match, there were changes to the roster. Initially, players such as Lionel Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, Mbekezeli Mbokazi, and Hugo Cuypers were named but were later replaced for various reasons, with Messi and De Paul excused for rest.
Liga MX has announced a squad of 24 players for their side. Notably, Toluca, which recently won the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup, has four representatives on the team. Cruz Azul has the most players represented with five, while CF Pachuca also contributes four.
This match is at the center of a week filled with events in Charlotte, including a fan festival and other activities related to the game.
