Sherman City Manager Dr. Zachary Flores announced his resignation from the position on Monday. The departure ends his tenure as the city’s top administrator, which began just over one year ago.
Flores assumed the role of city manager on March 1, 2025, succeeding Robby Hefton. His time in that specific post has lasted slightly more than twelve months. Prior to becoming city manager, Flores was elevated to acting city manager by the Sherman City Council in January 2025.
Before his recent administrative appointments, Flores spent nearly two decades on the city payroll. His previous roles within the local government included serving as assistant city manager and as the chief of police for Sherman.
The city has appointed Assistant City Manager Clint Philpot to serve as acting city manager while a permanent replacement is sought. The selection process for a long-term successor has not yet been detailed.
