Sherman High School football is starting the coming season with two major changes: a new campus building for the Bearcats program and Efrain Ramos as head coach.
The facility gives the team an upgraded base for football operations. Receiver Brycen Taylor said the change is striking after what the site looked like a few years earlier. “It feels great. I mean, just like four years ago, it was nothing out here. And now we have all this. It’s amazing. It feels great,” Taylor said.
Running back Piere Browhow also described a positive reaction to the new space. “It feels great. I came from really nothing. I came from rural Louisiana. So this is just, it’s adorable. I’m loving it,” Browhow said. No additional details about the building were provided.
Ramos is taking over a team that finished 2-7 last season. He said the players have responded to changes in offensive, defensive and special teams approaches, as well as routines connected to the weight room and team operations.
Taylor said Ramos cares about players as people, and Browhow described him as a coach who encourages the team. Sherman’s district assignment also changes for the year, with the Bearcats set to face several opponents they have not played lately.
