Sherman police probe homicide near US-75 and Taylor Street

Sherman Police are investigating a homicide near the east service road of US-75 and Taylor Street, with the suspect identified as an 18-year-old arrested in connection with a separate bomb threat.

Sherman Police are investigating a homicide that occurred near the east service road of U.S. Highway 75 and Taylor Street on Friday morning. Officers responded to the scene at approximately 3:38 a.m. to begin their inquiry.

Law enforcement established a presence across from the Splash Aquatic Center, located on the 1200-block of West Taylor Street, around 7:09 a.m. as the investigation continued. Both eastbound and westbound lanes of Taylor Street were temporarily closed, and the Taylor Street bridge was also shut down to traffic.

Sherman police and firefighters remained on the scene throughout the morning. The Taylor Street bridge reopened at 9:02 a.m., followed by the 1200-block of West Taylor Street at 9:19 a.m. By that time, all roadways affected by the investigation had been reopened to the public.

An 18-year-old individual was arrested in connection with a bomb threat call at a Cinemark theater in Sherman. Authorities have not explicitly linked this arrest to the homicide investigation in the provided reports.

Sherman Police stated that additional information regarding the homicide will be released when it becomes available. The investigation remains ongoing.
