Sherman utility customers who pay online will face a new processing-fee schedule starting Thursday, Oct. 1. The city says debit and credit card payments will carry a 3.95% fee, while payments by e-check will cost $1.95.
The fees also apply to automatic payments arranged through the online system, according to the city’s payment notice.
Customers have other ways to pay. Sherman’s payment-options page lists checks, money orders and cash among accepted methods, along with mail and drop-box options. The city asks customers not to put cash in a drop box or send it through the mail.
The city also lists a separate bank-draft option that draws from a checking account before the bill is due. Customers who are unsure which kind of automatic payment they use can contact Utility Billing at 903-892-7237.
