The Houston Texans are 0-2 after a 20-6 home defeat to Cincinnati and could alter their offensive line before Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Coach DeMeco Ryans discussed the situation Wednesday at the Houston Methodist Training Center.
Houston managed 18 rushing yards on 12 carries against the Bengals. Trent Brown faced criticism for his work against Cincinnati’s pass rush, while Blake Fisher, a 2024 second-round selection from Notre Dame, is being considered for the right tackle spot after a strong training camp. Wyatt Teller also could become a full-time starting guard beside rookie center Keylan Rutledge.
Houston has not announced whether Fisher or Teller will start.
Indianapolis placed receiver Alec Pierce on injured reserve because of a heel injury, Colts coach Shane Steichen said. The team signed Darius Slayton and added Eli Pancol to its practice squad. Josh Downs, Keenan Allen and rookie tight end Tyler Warren are among the remaining receiving choices, with Taylor described as an underneath option.
Houston is waiting for the official injury report on Pro Bowl receiver Nico Collins, who has a hamstring problem. The Texans won the AFC South after 0-2 starts in 2018 and 2023. With no AFC South games for any team in Week 3, Sunday’s winner will have a 1-0 division tiebreaker record and the loser will be 0-3.
