Texas A&M coach Mike Elko said Marcel Reed will continue as the Aggies’ starting quarterback after the No. 23 team’s 35-6 loss to No. 10 LSU. Elko’s response was “No” when asked if he was considering replacing Reed. The exchange was posted by the TexAgs account on X and reported by Yahoo Sports.
Reed completed 10 of 26 attempts for 106 yards against LSU, with one pass intercepted. His 38.4% completion mark was described as potentially the lowest of his college career. Across four games this season, he has thrown for 738 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. He has completed 55.4% of his passes, a career-low rate, and has run for 104 yards and one touchdown.
That production follows a 2024 season in which Reed passed for 3,169 yards and 25 touchdowns. Texas A&M’s fifth game is against Arkansas, which also is 2-2. The matchup is set for Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. EST.
