Nimmo’s Key Hit Seals Victory
Jake Nimmo delivered the decisive blow in the sixth inning, singling to center field to score Langford and Pederson, giving the Texas Rangers a 7-5 lead. The two-run hit proved sufficient as the Rangers held on for a 7-6 win over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday at Truist Park. Nimmo finished with three runs batted in, anchoring an offensive effort that overcame an early deficit.
Early Braves Lead
Atlanta took control in the second inning against Rangers starter MacKenzie Gore. Adam Duvall homered to left, and Austin Riley scored to make it 1-2. Whit Merrifield singled to center, allowing Riley to score again for a 1-3 count. Matt Olson then hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Riley to push the lead to 1-4.
The Rangers answered in the third. Corey Seager singled to left, scoring Adolis García to cut the deficit to 2-4. Nimmo followed with a single to right, scoring Seager to make it 3-4. Michael Harris II then homered to right, extending Atlanta’s advantage to 3-5.
Rangers Take the Lead
Texas tied the game in the sixth when Josh Smith homered to right, scoring Corey Julks to make it 5-5. Nimmo’s subsequent single provided the go-ahead runs. The Rangers maintained their lead through the seventh, where Austin Riley doubled to left, scoring Harris II to make the final score 7-6.
