Duran drives in four as Rangers edge Giants 5-4 at Globe Life Field

Duran sets the pace

Four RBIs from Duran carried the Texas Rangers to a 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Globe Life Field. The announced attendance was 26,959.

Texas took the first lead in the bottom of the first. Nimmo doubled to right to score Pederson and move Seager to third. Duran followed with a single to right that scored Seager and put Nimmo at third, giving the Rangers a 2-0 lead.

Giants pull even

MacKenzie Gore gave Texas 6.0 innings, allowing three hits and no earned runs with three walks and four strikeouts. Blade Tidwell worked 5.0 innings for San Francisco, allowing six hits and two earned runs with one walk and three strikeouts.

After neither team scored from the second through sixth innings, San Francisco tied it in the top of the seventh. Basabe homered to left, a 377-foot drive that scored Gilbert and made it 2-2. It was the only home run of the game.

Chase Silseth was charged with his fourth blown save. His line was 0.2 inning, one hit, two earned runs, one walk and no strikeouts.

Late swings both ways

Texas moved back in front in the bottom of the eighth. Duran doubled to right, scoring Langford and Seager while Nimmo advanced to third, and the Rangers led 4-2.

San Francisco answered in the top of the ninth. Eldridge singled to right, bringing in Gilbert and McCray to tie the game at 4-4.

Jacob Latz received the win and was also charged with his third blown save. Latz allowed two hits and one earned run with one walk and one strikeout in 1.0 inning. Robby Ahlstrom pitched 1.0 inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts, and Peyton Gray had 0.1 inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout.

Rangers finish it

Texas won in the bottom of the ninth. Duran hit a ground-rule double that scored Burger and moved Seager to third, ending the game at 5-4.

Dylan Smith took the loss for San Francisco, falling to 0-4 after allowing two hits and one earned run with one walk and one strikeout in 0.2 inning. The Rangers improved to 56-58, while the Giants fell to 48-66.
