Quantrill Dominates on the Mound
Cal Quantrill delivered a seven-inning, scoreless performance to lead the Texas Rangers to a 6-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. The right-hander retired 12 of the 14 batters he faced, allowing just two hits and striking out five while walking two. Quantrill improved his record to 7-5 with the win.
He was followed by Jakob Junis, who pitched one inning without allowing a run or a hit, and Chase Silseth, who closed the game with one hitless inning, two walks, and one strikeout.
Seager Drives in Two Runs
The Rangers scored their runs across four different innings, with the fifth inning providing the bulk of the offensive production. In the fifth, Corey Seager hit a two-run home run to right center field. The blast traveled 403 feet and scored Nico Duran, who had earlier singled to right to drive in one run.
Seager’s homer brought the score to 4-0. The team added two more runs in the eighth inning. Josh Jung tripled to right to score one run, and then a sacrifice fly to left scored another run, completing the 6-0 final tally.
