Canzone Drives in Key Runs
Dominic Canzone delivered the decisive blows in the seventh inning, launching a three-run home run and later adding a double to help the Seattle Mariners secure a 6-4 victory over the Texas Rangers on Sunday. The performance included a 400-foot blast that shifted the momentum of the game, providing the lead Seattle would not relinquish.
Canzone’s power display was not isolated to one swing. He finished with two hits, including the crucial long ball that broke a tie game. His second hit came in the ninth inning when he doubled to right field, driving in one final run to extend the Mariners' advantage.
Early Scoring and Pitching Duels
The game began with the Rangers taking an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when a sacrifice fly by Duran allowed Pederson to score. The Mariners responded in the third inning, tying the game at 1-1 after Rodríguez singled to left field, allowing Young to cross the plate.
Seattle took control in the fourth inning. Carter singled to right, scoring Nimmo, and Lopez followed with an infield single to second, driving in Burger to make it 3-1. The Mariners extended their lead later in the frame, capitalizing on the Rangers' pitching struggles.
Rangers starter Jacob deGrom worked five innings, allowing one earned run on seven hits while striking out four batters. However, the bullpen could not contain the Mariners' offense. Tyler Alexander and Cole Winn combined for four earned runs in less than an inning of work. Winn took the loss, falling to 5-3 on the season.
