The 45th annual Sherman Arts Fest takes over the blocks around the Sherman Municipal Building on Saturday, Sept. 19, with vendor booths, food, performances on two stages and two art shows. The City of Sherman says the festival will go on rain or shine.
Start with the 5K and Bubble-K
The morning opens with the Sherman Education Foundation's 21st annual Arts Fest 5K and Bubble-K Fun Run. The 5K begins at 8 a.m., followed by the shorter fun run at 9 a.m. with a foam party after it, and an awards ceremony at about 9:30 a.m., according to the race's listing on Race Roster.
The race listing names Piner Middle School, 402 W. Pecan St., as the event site, while the 5K course starts at the intersection of Rusk and Laurel streets. The fun run uses the same start and finish line on a much shorter route.
Online registration is open through Sept. 17, at $35 for the 5K and $18 for the fun run, plus processing fees, and the 5K fee also covers admission to the fun run. On race day, sign-up costs $40 for the 5K and $20 for the fun run, and 5K registration runs from 7 to 7:45 a.m. Groups of five or more get a discount. Early packet pickup is Friday, Sept. 18, from noon to 5:30 p.m. in the front lobby of the Sherman ISD Administration Building, 2701 N. Loy Lake Road.
The race raises money for the foundation, which says it has raised more than $3 million for Sherman ISD students and teachers since it began in 1999.
