Neto Drives In Runs With Power Display

Neto produced a standout offensive effort with two home runs and five hits, driving in seven runs to lead the Los Angeles Angels to an 18-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Friday night. The Angels' slugger also recorded a double during the contest, providing the power surge that overwhelmed Houston's pitching staff.

Neto’s first homer came in the fifth inning, a 428-foot blast to center field that extended the Angels’ lead to 14-2. He added another long ball later in the game, a 363-foot shot to left field in the ninth inning that scored two more runs. His consistent hitting throughout the game kept pressure on Houston’s pitchers from early on.

Pitching Struggles Define Astros' Effort

Houston’s pitching lineup struggled significantly against the Angels’ offense. Peter Lambert took the loss, allowing nine earned runs over 3.2 innings while giving up eight hits and striking out three batters. Bryan King followed with a difficult outing, surrendering five earned runs in just 1.1 innings of work.

The Angels’ Grayson Rodriguez earned the win, pitching seven scoreless innings. He allowed five hits and two walks while recording six strikeouts. Blake Weiman closed out the game for Los Angeles, working two innings and allowing one earned run on three hits with three strikeouts.

Scoring Proliferation in Early Innings

The Angels’ offense erupted early, scoring multiple runs in both the first and second innings. Neto’s single in the first inning plated Meckler, while a series of wild pitches by Astros relievers allowed Alvarez to score twice for Houston.

The Angels responded with runs in the bottom of the first and added more in the second via a sacrifice bunt and an overturned challenge on a ground ball.

Los Angeles continued its assault in the fourth inning, scoring six runs. Neto’s single plated Frazier, and subsequent singles by Ballesteros and Grissom cleared the bases. The Angels added another run in the fifth on a fielder's choice that allowed Heineman to score before Neto’s first home run.

Final Score and Records

Guzman contributed with a home run in the ninth inning, while Smith hit a sacrifice fly to plate Varsho for Houston’s final run. The game featured exactly two home runs total. The Angels improved their record to 51-77, while the Astros fell to 64-64. The attendance at Daikin Park was 20,934.
