Democratic candidates for state and federal positions are set to appear together at a campaign rally in Sherman on Sept. 14, 2026.
The event is scheduled from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Lucy Kidd-Key Auditorium, located at 400 N. Elm St. Doors are expected to open at 6:00 p.m., providing time for attendees to meet the candidates and discuss ways to participate in the upcoming November general election.
The lineup includes Jason Pearce, a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in District 4, and Judge Holly Taylor, who is running for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Also featured are Amanda Reichek and Monica Purdy, both candidates for the Texas Fifth Court of Appeals, and Catherine Thorne, a candidate for Texas House District 62.
Kendall Scudder, chair of the Texas Democratic Party, and Michael Tijerina, a Democratic State Executive Committee member, will serve as emcees for the evening. Some candidates may send representatives to speak on their behalf.
Speakers are expected to address topics including public education, healthcare, voting rights, and economic opportunity. The event aims to connect voters with candidates seeking roles at the congressional, statewide, and judicial levels. A question-and-answer session is planned to begin around 8:15 p.m.
Michael Tijerina stated that the rally is intended to bring Democrats together and demonstrate that voters have candidates prepared to represent them at various levels of government. He noted that the event offers North Texans a chance to hear directly from individuals seeking their votes.
