Sherman is experiencing a surge in employment opportunities across multiple sectors, driven by continued business investment and population expansion. The influx of new residents has prompted retailers, hospitality providers, and service companies to enter the local market.
City officials note that major industrial employers such as Texas Instruments and GlobalWafers initially spurred housing and demographic growth. That residential foundation has now attracted commercial enterprises seeking to serve the expanding customer base.
"Retail follows rooftops," said Nate Strauch, a spokesperson for the City of Sherman. He explained that developers and large retailers are responding to the visible construction of homes and apartments. According to Strauch, the arrival of big-box stores represents the final phase of this economic cycle.
Three dining establishments are scheduled to open in the coming months: Bubba's 33, Chuy's, and Long Horn Steakhouse. Bubba's 33 alone intends to recruit approximately 190 employees for its new location.
Beyond the food service industry, broader hiring trends are visible across the region. Marsha Lindsey, executive director of Workforce Solutions Texoma, identified healthcare and social assistance, manufacturing, and retail trade as the primary sectors generating job postings.
Lindsey also highlighted the role of nearby educational institutions in supporting the local workforce. Grayson College and North Central Texas College provide training programs designed to meet the needs of regional employers.
