SHERMAN, Texas — Country music star Sara Evans drew a packed crowd to Lucy Kidd-Key Park on Thursday evening for the latest installment of Sherman's 32nd annual Hot Summer Nights concert series, as area residents arrived early to claim prime spots on the lawn.
Evans, known for hits including "Suds in the Bucket," "A Little Bit Stronger," and "Born to Fly," took the stage at approximately 7:30 p.m. following opening sets from local artists Greg Guymon and Braden Hull. The free outdoor concert drew attendees from across Texoma, with lawn chairs and coolers filling the park well before showtime.
The Hot Summer Nights series runs Thursday evenings through June and July at the Oliver Dewey Mayor Gazebo Stage in downtown Sherman. The free concerts are produced by the City of Sherman and Sherman Arts, with food trucks on site and an official after-party at The Post in downtown Sherman following each performance.
Next week's Hot Summer Nights will be replaced by the city's annual Lights on the Lake Fourth of July celebration at Kidd-Key Park, headlined by rock band Collective Soul. The regular concert series resumes the following Thursday.
