Von Miller has officially joined the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year deal, marking a significant move as the team revamps its defense. This comes as the Cowboys prepare for the upcoming season with approximately six new starters and a new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker.

Miller, who recorded nine sacks in 2025 while with the Washington Commanders, aims to leverage his experience to bolster the Dallas defense.

Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed confidence in Miller's skills, highlighting his sharp football intellect and speed. Schottenheimer noted that while Miller may not be on the field for every play, his presence is expected to enhance the team's overall defensive performance. He remarked on Miller's top-tier understanding of the game and his ability to navigate angles effectively.

In the previous season, Miller participated in 17 games for the Commanders, starting three and logging 420 snaps, which represented 37 percent of the team's defensive plays. In Dallas, he is anticipated to fulfill a similar role, likely contributing during critical moments, such as third downs, while other players manage early downs.

Miller's impressive career includes being selected second overall in the 2011 NFL Draft and winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award. He has also earned Super Bowl MVP honors and secured two Super Bowl titles.

Currently, he holds the record for the most sacks among active players, with a total of 138.5, and is tied with Cowboys legend DeMarcus Ware for 13th all-time, just 3.5 sacks away from entering the top 10.
