The Dallas Cowboys promoted linebackers Curtis Robinson and Justin Barron from their practice squad for Week 2 against the Washington Commanders, a game set to be Dallas’ home opener. Both players add linebacker depth and can contribute on special teams. The moves came after DeMarvion Overshown suffered a hamstring injury.

Dallas has not said when he might return and opted against signing a veteran for the matchup.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Friday that rookie Jaishawn Barham will use the green-dot helmet while Overshown is unavailable. Overshown was also among three Cowboys fined by the NFL after Dallas lost 28-20 to the New York Giants in Week 1. The league fined him $9,527 for hitting quarterback Jaxson Dart late.

Donovan Ezeiruaku, an outside linebacker, was fined $11,941 for a fourth-quarter facemask, and running back Javonte Williams received the same amount for taunting-related unsportsmanlike conduct.

Blogging The Boys said Dallas’ linebackers and safeties will be challenged by Jayden Daniels, Washington’s quarterback, and the Commanders’ offense. The report pointed to better performance in the center of the Cowboys’ defense as an important area for Week 2. Von Miller, who spent 2025 with Washington, could receive added attention after taking part in 11 snaps during his Dallas debut against New York.

No additional information on Overshown’s recovery timeline was provided.
